- The director of the Axencia Galega de Innovación (Gain), attended the inauguration of the UARX Space building in Porto do Molle
The director of the Axencia Galega de Innovación, Patricia Argerey, participated in the inauguration of the UARX Space industrial unit in the industrial area of Porto do Molle (Nigrán), dedicated to space logistics or transport of satellites "CubeSats" to orbit.
The director of the Axencia Galega de Innovación highlighted the importance of the new space subsector to which this company belongs in Galicia, because it grows very fast and is well positioned. In addition, she pointed out that it is a strategic area for Galicia, since it counts with high technology that contributes to the industrial transformation of Galicia towards models based on knowledge and innovation in line with the Estratexia de Especialización Intelixente de Galicia (RIS3).
In the same line, he pointed out that it has a traction effect on other Galician strategic sectors, increasing the technological capabilities of the community and boosting its specialization towards products and services with high added value. And, finally, because it is a sector with great growth potential.
In this context, with the aim of supporting the company's growth and enabling it to grow faster, Argerey recalled that the company has just received a participative loan with a conversion option from XesGalicia, through Fondo Galicia Innova Tech FICC. Through this fund, Xunta supports projects with a marked innovative character of technological companies, in both expansion and consolidation phases.
Argerey took the opportunity to congratulate the company on the recent award of a contract for the development of a small satellite launcher to a syndicate of Spanish companies, including the nigranese company. The director of Gain pointed out that this concession is great news for Galicia because it allows to further expand the capabilities in the aerospace sector, generate knowledge and wealth.
Finally, she highlighted the company's commitment to promoting scientific and technological vocations among young people, through initiatives such as the "Europa ao Espazo" program, which allowed 32 groups of students to receive specific training and participate in the development of a small satellite from its design and manufacture to its launch into orbit and operations, with the support of Xunta de Galicia.
